..but Community is supposed to continue for 13 more episodes.
Why make this change now? NBC is trying to kill the show with its move and lack of promotion and the previous hiatus. Why not just give Dan the 13 episodes to wrap up the story his way. Community’s way?
Instead we get a bastardized version for 13 episodes, maybe more if they water it down or add a laugh track or something else with a “broader appeal”.
There is a huge part of me that just wants all of the actors to take a stand and boycott the show without Dan. I’d rather the series end at the end of season three than to become something else.
I understand the reasons for why the actors won’t do such a thing. And I will watch season four because I love the actors and characters, but I will quit watching at the first sign that the Community universe has changed.
NBC is such a joke of a channel. It hates the only good things it puts on air these days. The only reason those things have stuck around at all is because they are too incompetent to create laugh track shows with broad appeal. So they get stuck with amazing, unique shows with a small, but dedicated fanbase and spit down at them while failing to replace them.
I tend to operate on a slightly dysthymic level anyways, so it doesn’t take much; but this whole fiasco just made me sad. I don’t want to get up. I don’t want to publish this post. I don’t want to do anything. I just want this show to be given a chance to, at the very least, end things with its own voice.
Do we really have such little control over life that it is this difficult to take a story you created and built from the ideas of your mind and be able to decide how it finishes? If your story can be taken out from underneath you, then what control do we have over anything?
And what is the lesson here? If you are amazingly talented but not quite popular enough then you are replaceable? That in order to be popular you can’t be too smart or too unique? That popularity only comes from watering everything down into slightly disguised copies of copies of copies of copies?
This made me way sadder than it should have. I don’t apologize. Don’t reach for the stars, kids. You’ll just be called a nerd and thrown in a locker. Instead just fart. Just fart in front of everyone. And laugh. Laugh with everyone else. Because that is what American culture strives to be these days … giant farts.
Way more excited about Community coming back today than the NCAA Tournament…
The “alternate reality” followed by “krumping” in last weeks Happy Endings was definitely an homage to Community, right”?
I think that’s about right
They left Shirley out though. She could have been Zordon or Alpha…
I’m glad you complained about Shirley being left out but not Pierce.
Pierce is clearly Lord Zedd. Shirley is, as the moral compass, clearly Zordon.

Dan Harmon … your life is an inspiration
John Oliver helps cheer up Jon Stewart as only the English can…
I regularly see these two shows being compared, and it’s not hard to see why. Both are post modern comedies that lack laugh tracks. Both are in their second season. Both are set a school and centered around a group of lovable misfits from different backgrounds. While critics tend to favor Community by a wide margin, Glee’s popular status among teenagers and incredible support from the Fox Network has helped it eclipse Community in ratings and at award shows. Despite being incredibly similar on the surface, these two shows couldn’t be more different. It is the belief of this humble woman that comparing the two is almost a bad joke…but somebody has to do it.
